One Medical Group’s members can now use the group’s mobile app to obtain expert evaluation and treatment for common dermatological issues.

The app doesn’t offer a live telemedicine session; it uses an asynchronous, step-by-step approach. Members answer a few questions about their symptoms, take a few photos of their skin issue, then submit the images for clinical review. One Medical’s dermatology team responds within 48 hours.

The app is not meant for treating any serious skin problems. Rather, it’s good for simple things like contact dermatitis, poison oak, alopecia, or psoriasis.

One Medical spokeswoman Leyl Black acknowledged that other telemedicine apps offer dermatology treatment, but points out that members can benefit from her company’s app being directly linked with their medical record.

The digital dermatology service will be free to all One Medical members for a limited period of time, the group says.

The app now also now offers a Vaccine Tracker that enables members to access their vaccine history from their phone.

In general, One Medical members can a use the app to get treatment for seasonal allergies and urinary track infections, schedule same-day appointments, or request prescription renewals, among other things.

“As a pioneer in the primary care space, One Medical is always looking for innovative ways we can care for our members in a higher-quality, more affordable manner,” said One Medical CEO Tom Lee, M.D. “By expanding on our mobile health app to include services such as Digital Dermatology and Vaccine Tracker, patients can have a more seamless, integrated, and quality experience while also saving time and money.”
