Here’s a list of today’s tech funding stories, updated as the day unfolds. Tip us here if you have a deal to share.
BlaBlaCar, the Paris-based ride-sharing service, announced today an astonishing funding round of $200 million.
The amount blew past reports last week that the funding round would come in at $160 million.
BlaBlaCar, founded in 2006, is now valued at $1.6 billion. Having grown to cover much of Europe, the company has been expanding into markets such as Russia, Turkey, and India.
Hello Fresh, the Berlin-based company that delivers meal kits and recipes to subscribers, announced today that it has raised another $85 million.
The company, which is a product of Germany’s Rocket Internet’s startup factory, had previously raised $149 million back in February, primarily from Rocket. This time, the round was led by Baillie Gifford, a Scottish investment firm.
According to HelloFresh, its valuation is now $2.9 billion, up from $680 million after the last round. On paper, that gives Europe one more unicorn to brag about.
The round was led by Index Ventures, but also includes Point Nine Capital, Connect Ventures, and RTA Ventures. In addition, there were a handful of individual investors: Anthony Casalena, chief executive of Squarespace; Javier Olivan, vice president of growth at Facebook; Jay Parikh, global head of engineering and infrastructure at Facebook; and Riccardo Zacconi, chief executive of King.
Dwnld, a build-your-own-app startup from early Pinterest investor Fritz Lanman and Alexandra Keating, has raised $12 million from Greylock Partners.
Dwnld had raised $2 million before today’s announcement, and claims to have helped publish 2,000 mobile apps to date, covering “media companies, YouTube stars, and individual bloggers,” the company said.
