At the rate Uber is expanding, it may be only a matter of time before we’re all working for the San Francisco-based ride-hailing service.
According to an update published by Silk.co, a data visualization company, Uber had 1,332 job openings in 69 countries last month, up from 435 job listings in 46 countries one year ago.
While the U.S. still accounts for 40 percent of the jobs posted, the rate of growth is higher in India and China. Across Asia, there were 480 openings, up 70 percent from a year ago.
In a bit of surprising news, India has nudged ahead of China to become Uber’s second-largest market in terms of job openings.
Uber faces tough competition in both countries, as well as various regulatory headaches. But it likely needs to gain more traction in two of the planet’s largest tech markets to justify its extraordinary valuation.
