Buffer has launched a new way for brands to manage what is being posted throughout its online channels. With its Social Media Calendar, marketers now have a more visual and manual way to schedule and publish content on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, and Pinterest.
Known for its social media management, Buffer lets marketers and community managers schedule postings whenever they want. So while the introduction of a calendar isn’t necessarily game-changing, it is probably going to be more convenient for users — it’s an experience that everyone seems to know. Buffer said by having this feature, a “huge pain point for anyone managing social accounts” will be solved.
Like with Google Calendar or Outlook, when you want to schedule a post, just drag and drop it into the calendar at the exact time you’d like it to go out. Buffer also provides preset slots for recurring posts. For those posts that have done well, you can easily set it to be reshared too. The calendar not only offers a daily view, but a weekly glance so you will know what is scheduled for the next week.
There’s also a capability for pinning posts to specific time slots. Right now if you’re going to publish posts to your social media channels at the same time, Buffer will likely reschedule one to avoid causing any problems. But if you need that post to go at that time, just pin it to that time and it’ll stay put.
Buffer said that it’s more than just a queue for your social media posts — the core service gives you that — it provides you greater visibility, just like you’d have with a Google Calendar.
The timing of this launch comes as Buffer has revealed it has 2.8 million users and a $7.8 million annual run rate.
