Hootsuite has further integrated its social media management platform with Microsoft’s suite of products. Starting today, data will be shared between Hootsuite and Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, and Yammer. The expectation is that team members will no longer access this data in a silo, but can make use of real-time conversations to enhance the sales process and customer service.
“Integrating Microsoft software enables Hootsuite customers to get the most out of social, from external customer interactions to internal collaboration,” said Steve Johnson, Hootsuite’s chief revenue officer.
Technically, this isn’t the first time that Hootsuite has integrated with Microsoft — it already has a tie-in with Yammer that’s been in place since 2012. But Hootsuite’s vice president of corporate and business development, Kevin Zellmer, told VentureBeat that this time, it’s more about helping customers better leverage social through both platforms, perhaps in a more native integration. Employees can collaborate with each other in real time while also helping customers across social media channels.
When it comes to handling social media content across various teams, Hootsuite believes that sharing data with Microsoft SharePoint can lead to impactful results. Akin to encouraging employee advocacy (Hootsuite recently debuted its Amplify app for this very reason), the intention of this integration is to encourage employees to share relevant content from their social networks directly into an employee’s public and team SharePoint sites, and vice versa.
Hootsuite is syncing its data up with Microsoft Dynamics CRM to close the loop so that enterprises can incorporate social interactions into the customer life cycle. Employees will identify a lead, opportunity, or case within the Hootsuite dashboard and input that contact into the Microsoft CRM. This is similar to the offering Salesforce recently announced with its Desk.com integration with SalesforceIQ.
While it seems that Hootsuite has pretty deeply invested itself into Microsoft’s suite of products, this is not an exclusive integration. The social media management platform has partnerships with IBM’s Connections, Salesforce, Box, Google Drive, Brandwatch, SugarCRM, Marketo, and Kenshoo.
All three of the integrations are free to Hootsuite Enterprise customers.
