Capcom is going to make a new push to mobile, and it’s using some of its biggest brands to help it succeed.

Mega Man and Monster Hunter highlight the company’s new Mobile Business Division, which the publisher announced today. It will release four games by March 31, 2017. These will include apps based on its popular Monster Hunter and Mega Man brands. The mobile market is worth $34.8 billion a year according to market research firm Newzoo, but Capcom’s efforts on the platform have been relatively slow (many of its releases are simply ports of older console games, with a lot of original mobile titles only releasing in Japan).

The Monster Hunter series focuses on 3D cooperative action where friends battle large beasts and earn new equipment, while most Mega Man games center around precise 2D platforming and shooting. Neither of these are the kinds of games you typically see on mobile, so we’re not sure exactly how Capcom will adapt these brands.

Capcom will base another mobile game on its Sengoku Basara action series, which has rarely appeared in markets outside of Japan (the original Sengoku Basara did come out in the U.S. for PlayStation 2 in 2005 as Devil Kings).

The Mega Man series, which consists of dozens and dozens of games, hasn’t actually seen a new release since 2010 (although Capcom did releas a collection of some of older games last year). This mobile title could be the first new Mega Man game in a long time.
