Gemini Mobile Technologies, a San Mateo, Calif. developer of wireless software that provides a 3D environment in which users can chat, share photos and shop on their phones, said it has raised an additional financing round of $5 million.

Backers are Japan’s Access Co., Aplix Corp., Nomura Securities and existing investor Mitsubishi-UFJ Capital. The new financing follows a recent $20 million round from Goldman Sachs.

The 3D software, called eXplo, is the technology behind SoftBank Japan 3D offering, named S! Town.
