Waiting in a mechanic shop while your car gets a new set of brakes can be incredibly boring. Your Mechanic takes the auto shop out of the equation and brings a mechanic to wherever you are, instead of you going to the repair shop. The company is raising a $1.2 million seed round.

Your Mechanic fancies itself an Airbnb for car repair. It describes itself as a peer-to-peer networking service for car mechanics and car owners who need repairs.

“The only reason a mechanic works at a shop is because he can’t find customers, we give him the customers,” said company founder Art Argawal.

Don’t expect one of the company’s mechanics to rebuild your engine, but they’ll change your oil, replace your brakes, or flush your transmission. One of the company’s limitations is that most of the equipment in a mechanic’s shop is too heavy or awkward to move, which narrows down the types of repairs they can offer. The company is based in Mountain View, California.

I look forward to having a mechanic come to me to change my oil, while I watch TV and relax.

Your Mechanic is one of 39 companies presenting at Y Combinator’s Demo Day Spring 2012 event. Check out other cool companies making their debut here.
