BARCELONA, Spain — The Chinese tech giant Huawei launched another wearable here at Mobile World Congress — the Talkband B2 —  and proved once again that the company has no idea how to play in the wearable space.

The big innovation in this device is that the wearable itself pulls out of the band and — surprise — it’s a Bluetooth headphone that pairs with your phone. What? Hey, 2003 called — it wants its technology back….

Outside of that, the only cool thing about this wearable is that the little “steps walked” and “calories burned” and other icons on the touchscreen are animated.

The construction of the wearable felt cheap and plasticky to me.

The biometrics measurements are strictly normal — steps walked, calorie burn, sleep quality, blah blah blah. No heartbeat monitoring. No workouts.

The Talkband 2 comes in black and silver, and will be available later this year. No pricing information was given.
