Intel announced that new business computers are shipping today with its latest technology for corporations. The new Intel Core vPro processors are based on the Nehalem design that debuted in servers last year.
The new Intel Core i5 vPro processors for business desktops have features that are tailored for corporate information technology managers. They have, for instance, built-in security and management features and can run business productivity applications up to 80 percent faster than prior chips. The new chips can run multiple applications twice as fast and encrypted material three times quicker.
The tracking features in the 32-nanometer chips have integrated graphics and make it easier to prevent thefts, mainly through data encryption. The new business platform includes companion chip sets.
Yesterday, Intel also said it would describe a previously announced version of its Nehalem processor designs that will have two and six cores, or computing brains, on a single chip. Intel is making the announcement next week at the Intenational Solid State Circuits Conference in San Francisco.
