The folks at Clush, a new search engine out of Milipitas, called to tell us that they were none too happy to see the Vivisimo search engine rebrand itself as Clusty. To them, the names are way too close for comfort. Both companies had booths at the Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose this summer, and the Clush folks are convinced that the Vivisimo gang found inspiration for its new name as it wandered past the Clush both. No word yet on whether attorneys will get involved.

It’s worth noting that both names have their roots in the “clustering” of search results that both search engines do. So the names are not coincidentally similar.
