Medical device company SpectraGenics, an over-the-counter cosmetic device company still operating in secret, has raised $4.4 million of a $4.5 million fourth round of financing, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission cited by VentureWire (sub required).
Incubic Venture Capital, SDL Ventures and Global Venture Capital provided the financing, according to the filing dated Nov. 8. The company raised $6.2 million late last year, from InCubic.
In December 2003 the company received FDA approval for its Spectra Hair Removal Laser, a pulsed diode laser device for temporary hair removal. In April 2006, it received clearance for SpectraGenics ATS-1, a laser surgical instrument for general and plastic surgery and dermatology, with a specific focus on treating acne.
