Terracotta is a San Francisco-based company that offers tools that lessen database overloading and simplify the architecture for Java applications.
The company decided in late 2006 to make its product open source, and now makes its income from commercial support and training services offered to Terracotta users.
The $10 million round was led by DAG Ventures, a new investor. Previous investors Accel Partners, Benchmark Capital and Goldman Sachs also participated.
