Each week, our friends at Backerjack bring us updates on some of the most successful gadget crowdfunding campaigns.

Sunn Light

The team behind the Sunn is looking to bring the sun to seasonally affected backers. Sunn Light is a smart LED light fixture that replicates the rhythm of the sun, bathing any room in a home with diffuse light of gradual strengths throughout the day. Sunn gradually brightens to gently waken users in the morning; produces cool, white colors to stimulate focus and productivity during the afternoon; winds down during sunset; and at night glows warm like the embers of a fire, a natural indicator it’s time to go to bed.

A companion app places total control of Sunn in a user’s hands, and can be used to sync the light to a location, change lighting conditions, or set alarms using gradual light. Sunn has more than doubled its original goal, proving that backers understand the importance of light during the colder months.

SnapJet is a high-quality, open source printer that produces Polaroid images with the help of any smartphone. It’s extremely slim and therefore portable, and above all easy to use. Simply navigate to the desired picture on the smartphone, place it screen down onto the printer, and SnapJet will do the rest — no app, wires, or connection of any kind necessary. The only thing a user will need is widely available Polaroid 300 or Fuji Instax film.

Almost 1,500 backers have contributed to this campaign, pushing it past its $155,000 goal to over $200,000. This product kicks a little vintage class into an increasingly digital world.

Blossom is a smart watering device. This sensor connects to an app that lets the user view each zone of their garden and schedule when to water them. The app will show what is being watered and how much time it has left. In addition, it connects with local weather data to adjust watering based on temperature and rainfall. Blossom also boasts a far-reaching connection between sensors and app using both Powerline and Wi-Fi to do so. Watering can be controlled not just from a smartphone, but also from a tablet or laptop as well.

Smart watering systems are the way to go, saving plants from dying and money on water bills. In addition, they’re environmentally friendly, conserving water so that everyone wins. Backers have pushed this one to the finish line, helping to more than triple its original goal. It’s clear that people want the convenient and environmentally responsible Blossom for their own.
