The Yahoo versus Google meme that’s been unfolding in the last weeks (to which we contributed here) is apparently starting to rankle some Google employees, not surprisingly. Ben Hammersly wrote a short piece for the Guardian today calling Yahoo the new Google. “This spring has been very strange,” he wrote. “Google, it seems, has jumped the shark. It has been overtaken, left standing, and not by some new startup of ultra smart MIT alumni or by the gazillions in the Microsoft development budget, but by the deeply unhip and previously discounted Yahoo.” Kevin Fox, a user interface designer on Google’s Gmail, decided that called for a response. He deconstructs Hammersly’s arguments and ends by saying, “The game is a long one, my friends.”
