Here we thought it was Yahoo that was cozying up closer and closer to Hollywood. But according to Waxy.org, it was little ol’ Palo Alto search engine A9.com (a subsidiary of Amazon.com) that was mentioned on Fox television’s The OC the other night. How weird is that? Even odder is that one of the show’s high school characters uses A9.com as a verb, as in “I A9.com’d him last night….” Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as easily as “I Googled him.” But then, no one’s ever accused us of being trend-setters over here at SiliconBeat.

UPDATE: Also, folks are starting to have fun with A9.com’s photo Yellow Pages feature. We saw this one coming a mile away. A9 says it has posted 20 million images collected from driving around the country shooting video of storefronts. What did the cameras see as the A9 SUVs rolled anonymously down America’s Main Streets? How many street crimes did it witness it in New York? How many people will find themselves immortalized in A9’s Yellow Pages photos?
