It’s a bit long, but there’s great color in here about the history of Audion, the Mac mp3 player and encoder that was eventually done under by Apple’s iTunes. Such as the deal with AOL that didn’t happen. Or when the two guys developing Audion find out — way too late — that Steve Jobs had wanted them to develop iTunes. Or Jobs explaining to them how he thought Audion would fare against iTunes: “It’s like you guys are a little push-cart going down the railroad tracks,” Jobs told them, “and we’re a giant steam engine about to run you down.” Audion co-founder Cabel Sasser talks about the key decisions he and his partner made along the way. A good read for budding entrepreneurs. (via Anil Dash)
