Tumblr for iOS is getting a bit of a makeover this morning, including an updated icon, new video posting features, and a way to see what’s trending on Tumblr.

First, the blogging platform updated its iOS icon so that it matches the white and blue “t” currently featured on its website.

Within the app, you can now create secondary blogs from your phone — additional blogs to the one you started when you first signed up. The updated app also allows you to submit posts to blogs that are asking for submissions, a feature that could really spur bloggers to churn out more content.

What is perhaps the most exciting update for many bloggers, though, is the ability to drop in a video URL to add video to a blog post. Tumblr says that this is by far the most anticipated feature it’s introducing today.

In this update, Tumblr brings filtered search, something it introduced on its browser version not too long ago, to mobile. Filtered search allows users to search within a specific type of content, like photos or video posts. Also imported from the browser version of Tumblr are its “sticky” search bar and avatars, which will stay at the top of your screen as you scroll through blog posts.

Lastly, the platform is adding a new widget that will give Tumblr users a way to see what’s trending on Tumblr with a quick swipe. However, bloggers will need to install the widget themselves. Here are the instructions Tumblr lays out:

1. Swipe down from anywhere to open your widget screen; 2. Scroll down the bottom of the “Today” tab; 3. Tap “Edit,” then tap “Trending on Tumblr.” After that, you’re good. Good forever.

Beyond the main updates, Tumblr is also introducing a better layout for iPad and making download and display faster for GIFs and other media.
