Mobile marketing company Zoove is looking for a $15.7 million round of financing as it continues to expand into the realm of delivering information to people using technologies such as email, SMS (text messages), WAP (instant wireless access to info) and MMS (multimedia messages).
The Palo Alto-based company has raised $14.4 million so far in this second round of funding.
Zoove has a system known as StarStar Dialing, which places codes on displays and billboards that anyone with a mobile phone can enter to get a message from the company that placed the ad. Google has been exploring the use of similar marketing technologies such as QR codes, which are small 2D codes that can be scanned by a cellphone’s camera.
The investors for this round are Cardinal Venture Capital from Menlo Park, Calif. and Highland Capital Partners from Lexington, Mass.
Zoove previously raised $6.8 million from WorldView and Cardinal Venture Capital in 2006.
