Today’s funding announcements include new online communities for images, ideas and local traffic announcements:
Cold Brew Labs pins down $700K for online bulletin board: The startup known for its first product Pinterest, a social catalog that lets users pin up images and ideas online, has raised funding, according to a filing with the SEC. Though the site is still invite-only, it already has a loyal following. In October, Pinterest users accused MySpace of copying the site’s image.
PacketMotion gets $2.7M to monitor user activity at the office: The San Jose-based company has now raised a total of $8.4M in its third round of funding led by Reservoir Venture Partners. PacketMotion helps mid- to large-sized businesses adhere to audit requirements and detect suspicious activity on the enterprise network.
Envista gets $4.1M to map out local traffic jams: The Massachusetts-based company has raised funding to help utilities and government agencies manage the projects and events taking place in a community, peHUB reports. Envista’s web-based software, called Smarter Streets, geo-locates activities such as utility projects, parades and parking restrictions on a map, allowing users to identity potential event conflicts in a town. Customers include Sacramento, Calif., Austin, Texas and the District of Columbia.
PhaseBio Pharmaceuticals brings in $15M more to treat diabetes: The biotech company has now closed a $25M second round of funding from Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation and others, peHUB reports. Based in Pennsylvania, PhaseBio develops drugs to treat diseases including metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
