FoodPanda nabs $20M

A food fight is brewing on the Internet. Today, one of the big contenders — FoodPanda — announced that it has raised $20 million to fuel its aggressive growth strategy. FoodPanda is a straightforward online ordering system for food. Read more on VentureBeat.

Greybull Stewardship raises $20M for new fund

Greybull Stewardship has secured $20 million for its second Evergreen investment fund. Read more about the deal here.

Localytics raises $16M for its powerful app analytics and marketing platform

Boston-based Localytics is one of many firms promising to gleam insights from your app — but with huge customers including Microsoft and Fox and a base of more than 1.4 billion devices, it’s an analytics firm worth your attention. Localytics announced today that it has raised $16 million in a third round of funding led by Foundation Capital, bringing its total funding to $25 million. Read more on VentureBeat.

Microsoft is just the sugar mama Foursquare was looking for

Microsoft is investing $15 million into Foursquare and signed a licensing agreement to use its extensive location data. This data will help Microsoft improve Bing’s local and search products. Remind101 closes $15M

Teens are fervent texters — they send thousands of texts a month, and it is their dominant daily mode of communication. Remind101 channels some of this texting fervor toward improving their performance in school. The company announced today that it has raised $15 million for its free platform that gives teachers a safe way to send text messages to students and stay in touch with parents. TeamSnap scores $7.5M to help sports teams stay on top of their game

Play sports, be a better person — there are decades of research (and countless movies) that support this claim. However, it is not as simple as running around a field with a ball. Sports teams, like a business, require organization and communication to function, which is where TeamSnap steps in. TeamSnap has scored (get it?) $7.5 million for its team management software. Noom bulks up with $7M first round to support its weight-loss & fitness apps

Noom is one of the few companies making good money on Android — or so it appears. Now, the company is raking in some investment dollars, too. Today, the startup announced that it closed a $7 million Series A investment led by RRE Ventures, one of New York’s highest-profile venture capital firms. Read more on VentureBeat.

Once upon a time, a children’s book app got kids to read at record rates

FarFaria is a popular electronic book app for children. Today, it announced raising $3.25 million from Inventus Capital Partners and angel investors. FarFaria creates interactive stories on the iPad. Watchup raises $1M to be your daily personalized newscast

Developer of news apps Watchup has raised $1 million from Microsoft Ventures and StartX as well as the Knight Foundation, Campus Televideo founder Ned Lamont, Tom Yellin, and Gerry McIntyre. Watchup first launched an iPad app that serves as a hybrid between video aggregators and newsreaders, so you can create a custom newscast. The Muse grabs $1M from a handful of celebrities

Career site The Muse has raised $1 million in seed funding today from a plethora of notable investors in the public eye. Some of those investors include Tyra Banks, Alexis Ohanian, Dan Rosensweig, Sallie Krawcheck, Chris Herrmannsen, Tracy Brennan, Mike Walsh, Ruth Ann and Bill Harnisch, Anjula Acharia Bath, Gordon Crawford, and WGI Group. OneFold raises $400K to grab data on how we use mobile devices & wearables

The data streaming off of wearables and mobile devices — such as data about how applications are used — could be a gold mine for companies developing mobile and wearable apps. Companies can analyze that information and adjust their applications to make them more compelling. A startup called OneFold is seizing this opportunity, and now it has some money to keep working on its product. Today OneFold announced a $400,000 seed round. Read more on VentureBeat.
