Paper résumés are slowly dying off, replaced by personal websites, LinkedIn profiles, and awesome digital portfolios. Instead of a flat, boring text résumé, startup Pathbrite wants you to express your professional and personal achievements in an interactive portfolio, full of pictures of when you climbed Machu Picchu or wrote an extensive research paper.

To start, you create a portfolio and add content such as your work history, a cover letter, personal pictures that reflect your interests, and samples of your academic or professional work. You can add content from Google, Vimeo, and YouTube, with LinkedIn and Facebook integrations coming soon. Then you publish your portfolio and share it on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to help land a job or get into a good college.

Pathbrite’s competitors include Zerply, a professional network profile site and Behance, a digital portfolio for creative types. Other sites such as offer a simple place to create a personal website.

Pathbrite’s concept is great in theory, but these kinds of sites struggle to reach LinkedIn levels of adoption. Even though we put more of ourselves online each day, we still rely heavily on the traditional text résumé.

Rethink Education led the round of funding, with a strategic investment from educational testing company ACT. Yep, ACT is the company that provides one of the standardized tests used for college admissions.

Pathbrite is based in San Francisco, Calif. and has raised a total $4 million in funding.
