SherpaShare wants to be the analytics layer on top of the frothy ride-sharing industry. Today it announced a $700,000 seed round and launched on iOS.
Bay Area-based SherpaShare calls itself a “sharing economy analytics company.” The one-year-old startup offers analytics for Uber, Lyft, Sidecar, Postmates, Instacart, Sprig, and SpoonRocket drivers. The goal is to help them understand what they actually earn per hour, and maybe even help them earn more.
That’s a pretty big deal for the 100,000-plus on-demand drivers out there, some of whom make reportedly far less income than advertised by startups like Uber.
SherpaShare cofounder Ryder Pearce tells us the company’s new iPhone app will “help app-based drivers track their complete mileage and time on the road.” The new app is more of a “companion” to the company’s site, Pearce says. SherpaShare’s existing Android app is also pretty basic, for now.
SherpaShare’s seed round came from “SF and NY angels,” says Pearce. ZPark, Corrigin Ventures, and Galvanize Ventures also participated.
