Amazon’s Android Appstore is making a bigger name for itself today with the exclusive release of the popular game Plants vs Zombies by PopCap Games. The game is available now and retails for $2.99.
A few weeks ago, PopCap said it would release future Android games in the Amazon Appstore first, and the company is following through on its promise with this release. Plants vs Zombies won’t launch in the Android Market for another few weeks.
The app is not optimized for tablets but will run on most Android tablet devices with some pixelation. Amazon’s Appstore also notes that the game will not run on the following Android devices: Motorola Droid, Devour, and Flipside; Samsung Transform and Intercept; HTC Aria and MyTouch 3G; Sony Ericsson X8; Sanyo Zio; Kyocera Echo; and LG Ally.
If you’ve been living under a proverbial rock or just not paying attention, you may not be familiar with Plants vs Zombies. In it, you control various types of weaponized plants and do your best to defeat zombies that walk all over your lawn.
Plants vs Zombies was first released for the PC in May 2009 and found its way over to iOS in Februrary 2010, where it has been an insanely popular title. Plants vs Zombies is still the 23rd most popular paid game in the Apple App Store more than a year after release.
