We have our first official tease of Destiny 2.
The official Destiny Twitter account today posted an image promoting the sequel, giving us an official at the multiplayer, open-world shooter. The first Destiny came out in 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360. It set records for a new gaming franchise, making $500 million in it first day. Publisher Activision Blizzard has not released sales numbers for the game recently.
The image doesn’t reveal much, including release dates or platforms. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are likely, and a PC version is rumored this time — the original is just for home consoles.
The first Destiny had a big debut, receiving plenty of hype as Halo developer Bungie’s first new franchise since it created Miicrosoft’s landmark shooter series. But it came under quick criticism. Gamers complained that its loot system was unfair and unrewarding, and some questioned the quality of the writing. Bungie consistently released new content via paid expansions and free updates that added more content and improved points of contention like its loot system. The last major update, Age of Triumph, comes out on March 28.

Destiny 2 will reset players’ progress, meaning that they won’t be able to carry over weapons and loot from the first Destiny. While this could be a bummer for fans who put a lot of time into the shooter, it ensures that everyone will start on equal footing when the sequel launches.
