Activision is preparing to launch a cel-shaded console game entitled Transformers: Devastation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) game tradeshow in Los Angeles next week, according to game news site Pure Xbox.

The leak shows that Activision’s appetite for making games from the Transformers franchise hasn’t been hurt by a poorly rated movie (critics hated the Michael Bay Transformers flicks) and an equally poorly rated game the last time around. Activision released Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark in June 2014. The game received average ratings of around 40 out of 100 on Metacritic, the game review score aggregator.

But this game has a style that matches the original cartoon from the 1980s. In addition, Hasbro has been a line of Transformers toys this year — Combiner Wars — that capture the so-called “Generation One” look and feel. The game may go with that line, as it includes Autobot leader Optimus Prime, who’s in the screenshot above; and Devastator, a giant Decepticon warrior who’s made up for several other, smaller “combiner” Transformers.

Of course, Devastation plays on the combiner’s name, Devastator.

In addition to the Pure Xbox leak, Best Buy Canada also evidently leaked a description of the game, which is expected to come out on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. It listed Platinum Games as developer and an Oct. 6 release date.
