While Mass Tuesday fell upon us earlier this week, I was that guy who was playing Mag. Mag is Sony’sFPS that could hold 256 players (which you have to unlock at level 8 or some bullshit). This game is strickly an online game where you choice what class you want to be, what weapons, basically what your character carries and BOOM you’re in a game.
Controls are the standard FPS, nothing too crazyand the game play has that Kill Zone 2 grit to it. It’s got your xp point, limited though. Players are only getting 5 for a kill and 2-3 for an assist. You do see the top 3 at the end, sometimes they’redecent.
You can choiceout of 2 locations to spawn,I’m sure later in the game, there’s a drop in with parachutes too but you just get slaughtered on the way down. Now this game get huge BONUS points because the first time I got into a game, I took a few steps, aimed and head shot! The guy went down like a deer. You get -5 xp but totally worth it.
The maps are huge and long makingit’s campers paradise. Many time you’ll died and just come up with question marks. There is no kill cam which is good and when you dieyou get thrown into a waiting room where there’s a continuous count down to deployment. It’s sweet, sometimes you catch at 3 or 4 and your right back in. That’s also where you choice your weapon class and where you want to deploy.
There will be characters with blue indicators above which is your squad team. You CANNOT go rouge in this game, trust me. Mag teaches you to flock together, picture the ducks flying-v (I won’t do an Emilio Estevez joke….ah I got so many of them). So you can imagine that there’s pretty good fire fights, unfortunately you won’t be there too long to enjoy them. The health does not regenerate but you do have an item to heal about 45%but in battles its hard to use.

Once shot down, your character goes into a bleed out mode for about 30 seconds and only a medic can revive you. I found a lot of people are not liking this from the chatter online.
Anyways, the short – It’s like Kill Zone 2 but newer. Unless you’re a hardcore fan of FPSand need this then you probably already have it. For the others, pass on this. You’re not getting anything much for your money. Remember BETTER IS COMING.
