LOS ANGELES — One of the standout games from the last Electronic Entertainment Expo was the enormous sci-fi space-exploration game No Man’s Sky. And now it’s back to win some more fans at E3 2015.
Sony invited a developer of No Man’s Sky onto the stage for the PlayStation’s media briefing, and the studio showed off how the game plays.
“It’s a universe-size sandbox,” Hello Games cofounder Sean Murray said. “It’s full of choices.”
The developer picked up a PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller and immediately showed off a space battle. Murray then demonstrated the scale of the galaxy by zooming the camera to show hundreds and then thousands and then tens of thousands of suns. He emphasized that each has its own solar system.

It’s so big that Murray said that many of the planets that people can visit — well, no one ever will.
But it’s not just about the scale. It’s a living universe with a lot going on.
“It’s got fighting, trading, exploring, and survival,” said Murray. “It’s a huge game.”
We didn’t get a release date, but Murray did promise to give it to us “soon.”
