Mobile developer Gameloft is making Thor: The Dark World, based on the upcoming film of the same name, for iOS and Android. It’s an isometric hack-and-slash title that has the god of thunder facing off against hordes of enemies. The game is due out this fall, and now the studio is revealing the first gameplay in the trailer above.
“Thor: The Dark World – The Official Game will allow fans of the franchise to play as one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes in a game of epic scope and beauty,” Marvel vice president of games marketing Javon Frazier said. “With this new game, we are further expanding the successful relationship between Marvel and Gameloft.”
Thor: The Dark World is a free-to-play game. Gameloft will attempt to generate revenue with in-game items that players can purchase to improve and augment their experience.
This is the Gameloft’s third Marvel-movie tie-in. The publisher previously released titles based on the films Iron Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man.
Thor: The Dark World debuts in theaters Nov. 8. It follows the events of the first film as well as the 2012 team-up movie The Avengers.
