PlayStation 4 owners may not have to wait much longer to start downloading digital games before they release, if a tweet by Sony-owned studio Sucker Punch is true.

Sucker Punch’s major PlayStation 4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son released today. A fan on Twitter asked the developer Wednesday if there was any way to predownload the game so that it would be ready to play at 12 a.m. Here is the question and the developer’s response:

It seems that with this tweet, Sucker Punch has confirmed inside knowledge that preloading of digital games is coming to the PS4 in April, which has not been officially announced by Sony.

If there was any doubt about what the studio’s Twitter account meant with the first tweet, this one in response to another fan clears it up.

GamesBeat reached out to Sony for confirmation, and it provided the following statement: “We know that it is the feature you’ve been asking for, and we are considering it accordingly. We do not have specific details to announce at this point in time, but stay tuned for upcoming announcements about system updates and added features.”

Marc Whitten, Xbox One’s chief platform architect, told IGN that Microsoft has plans to enable the preloading of digital games on its newest console. Meanwhile, the PC has had access to the feature for a long time, with both Valve’s Steam platform and EA’s Origin platform supporting it.
