Details are still minimal right now, but it seems that the 4.45 update for PS3 is locking up systems. According to reports, owners can no longer boot their systems after the update after the update, which Sony released today.
The update is supposed to let gamers choose whether they want in-game notifications when they earn trophies.

According to website Engadget, the issue only seems to affect PlayStation 3 owners with 500GB or larger hard drives, but that’s difficult to confirm right now.

Sony has since pulled the firmware update. A representative for the company told GamesBeat, “We are aware of reports that the recent PlayStation 3 system software update (version 4.45) has caused the XMB to not display on a small number of PS3 systems. We have temporarily taken 4.45 offline and are investigating the cause of the problem. We will announce when the system update is available for download as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
