LOS ANGELES — Building unethical ships that no living being should ever fly in is not just for PC gamers.

During its PlayStation Latin America event tonight at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony revealed that Kerbal Space Program will come to the PlayStation 4 in 2016. This will enable gamers with the Sony console to build rockets and fly them into space, to a moon, or to other planets. Kerbal features realistic physics, and it also requires you to understand some basic rocketry — or else you’re going to end up as a smudge mark on the ground.

This is a success story for a game that found success through Early Access on Steam. Kerbal Space Program started as a small game from Mexican developer Squad. But it quickly caught on with fans who loved its sandbox take on make-your-own NASA.

Earlier this year, Squad finally released the 1.0 version of Kerbal and exited Early Access. That was after more than three years in development. Now, the game will continue to live as it moves on to console.
