Sony Computer Entertainment ended 2015 with a strong sales performance — and another chance to tout its PlayStation 4’s success over Microsoft’s Xbox One.

The PS4 once again outsold Xbox One console at U.S. retailers, according to data from industry-tracking firm The NPD Group provided to GamesBeat by Sony. This means the PS4 was the top-selling home console for the two biggest months of the year after also outselling the Xbox One in November. This continues Sony’s domination of the console market after consistently beating Microsoft and Nintendo in all but two months (April and October) of 2015.

Here’s the statement from Sony:

“As we reflect on an amazing year, we want to thank fans and partners for making PlayStation 4 the top selling console in December and in 2015. PS4 also had the strongest third-party software sales in 2015 in the U.S., according to NPD.

The momentum and enthusiasm for the platform continued throughout the year, resulting in cumulative sales of more than 35.9 million since the launch of PS4. During the holiday season alone, more than 5.7 million PS4s and 35 million PS4 games were sold through to consumers worldwide. We look forward to another great year and bringing an extensive portfolio of games from our publisher partners and SCE Worldwide Studios to fans in 2016.”

Sony announced earlier this month that it is approaching 36 million PS4s sold worldwide. Of that total, 6.4 million came from the most recent “holiday season,” according to the company. And a huge portion of that came from the United States — although the PlayStation brand typically outsells Xbox One and Wii U in most regions around the globe.
