If you’re a Hearthstone fanatic, tomorrow’s going to be a great day for you.
Blizzard’s digital card-collecting game debuts its Tavern Brawl mode tomorrow. This brings a multiplayer mode akin to the single-player challenges found in Hearthstone’s adventures, Curse of Naxxramas and Blackrock Mountain. It’s a head-to-head mode that challenges players to outwit opponents in special matches. It’s also a key move in that it adds free content to a free-to-play game that could use more — an important component in player retention for online and mobile games.
Here are the rollout plans from Blizzard by region. The first date and time is when the Brawl mode opens, and the second pair is when it closes temporarily as Blizzard prepares to deploy the next challenge, explained spokesperson Lyndsi Achucarro in an e-mail to GamesBeat.
- Americas: opens 10 a.m. PDT on Wednesday — closes Monday 3 a.m. PDT
- Europe: opens 5 p.m. CEST on Wednesday — closes Monday 6 a.m. CEST
- Taiwan/China: opens 3 a.m. CST on Wednesday — closes Monday 6 a.m. CST
- Korea: opens Thursday 4 a.m. KST — closes Mon 7 a.m. KST
The first three hero skins debuted yesterday in its store for $10 apiece, a new part of Hearthstone’s monetization strategy.

Tavern Brawl will either give you odd, premade decks to play with or require you to build you own decks that match “surprising guidelines.” This introduces a bit of spice that may keep high-level players entertained if they start growing tired of the traditional battle and Arena modes.
