Some select gamers are getting famous thanks to gameplay livestreaming, and now Twitch is offering them a way to capitalize on their e-fame.
The video website for gamers announced today that it is partnering with the custom T-shirt company Teespring. Twitch will enable its partners to create unique shirts that fans can buy from the site’s store. This will provide another way for broadcasters to earn cash from their livestreaming in addition to ads and subscriptions.
“The Twitch community is fervent about supporting the broadcasters they love,” Twitch business development director Brooke Van Dusen said. “By working closely with Teespring, we are able to offer our partners a fun and creative way to connect with their fans and further establish their personal brand, all while providing an additional source of income.”
Twitch has more than 8,500 partners who have dedicated audiences that show up to watch them play. While some are already selling their own shirts and other merchandise, Teespring’s Twitch deal will simplify the process for the rest.
