Symphonic game-music concert series Video Games Live launched a Kickstarter project this morning to fund a third album of live music.
The crowdfunding campaign is asking fans to contribute $250,000 to help pay for the production of Video Games Live: Level 3, which will include music from Tetris, Metroid, Journey, BioShock, Chrono Trigger, Red Dead Redemption, Dota 2, and Beyond Good and Evil.
“This time around, I wanted to create a video game soundtrack that was really special and doesn’t have all of the games and music that people have been recording now for years,” Video Games Live founder Tommy Tallarico said in a statement. “But the music industry doesn’t believe there is a market for an album like this, even after all of the ongoing success of Video Games Live. To create this album, I’m asking for the support of game music fans from around the world, so we’re going to Kickstarter to see who is right, the music industry or video game fans.”
