Amazon currently is in the business of movie and TV show streaming, but it has now expanded to include Hulu-like shorts.

These, Amazon says, have been collecting on its site, but it has only recently added a dedicated section to Instant Video called “Video Shorts.”

The company says that the Video Shorts section was added to Instant Video within the last couple of weeks, though the content it contains has actually been building up on the site for much longer than that.

Actually the short-form stuff has been showing up since last year, including things like movie trailers, music videos, concert clips, celebrity interviews, and how-to videos. You can also find sections called “Food & Drink,” “Technology” and “Literature & Books.”

Many of the how-to videos are aimed at young women, offering make-up and beauty tips. This kind of video has been very successful on YouTube. YouTube has even invested in developing several channels about beauty.

The videos in Amazon’s Video Shorts section are from established content publishers like movie studios. They are not YouTube-type videos, which can be uploaded by just anybody.

Amazon’s beauty videos, for example, come from  Howcast or Howdini.
