Apple has responded to media reports from earlier today that almost half of people who tried Apple Music have now abandoned the service.
Apple says the finding, from MusicWatch, is erroneous, and that 79 percent of Apple Music users continue to use the service.
The MusicWatch report also says that only 11 percent of all iOS users have tried the music service. But it also found that only 77 percent of iOS users are aware of Apple Music.
Apple’s new streaming service, which was launched in June, offers people a three-month trial period. MusicWatch says 61 percent of the 5,000 people it polled said they have already turned off “auto-renew” in Apple Music.
Apple Music launched with the release of iOS 8.4 at the end of June. The curated subscription service also includes a live radio service called Beats 1 and an artist social networking platform called Connect.
The MusicWatch survey also yielded a little bit of good news for Apple, finding that 28 percent of Spotify Premium subscribers are also trialing Apple Music.
Apple’s Music trial ends in October.
