If you aren’t happy with what people see when they look you up on Google, a company called BrandYourself wants to help.
Of course, the pitch sounds awfully similar to Reputation.com (formerly ReputationDefender), but Reputation.com customers actually hire the company to create “good” content to show up in Google. BrandYourself offers a dashboard where you can manage that process yourself.
The company offers a free tool that you use to categorize the top Google results for your name in terms of whether or not they’re actually about you, then BrandYourself gives you an overall grade and promises to make things better.
So what can you actually do with the service? Well, it helps you register and create your own website and connect your other social networking accounts. Then it tracks your visibility and what people are saying in the subject area where you want to be known. Plus, if you want to develop a following but don’t know what to say, BrandYourself recommends content in your subject area that you might want to post on your website or elsewhere.
BrandYourself offers a free trial, then starts charging on a monthly basis for its individual and business accounts. It was selected from the demo pit at the Launch conference today to demonstrate on stage.
