Over 500,000 magazines have been created since Flipboard rolled out a new version of its app, which includes the ability for users to make their own digital publications.
Flipboard 2.0 offers users the ability to aggregate content including articles, photos, audio, and video into their own magazines, turning everyone into a reader and an editor.
Flipboard released an infographic (embedded below) demonstrating some achievements, and it offers an insight into their popular and fast-growing application.
The new features encourage users to create engaging and relevant magazines on a variety of topics. Some of the most popular and unique topics include education with 2,653 magazines, Game of Thrones Fanzines with 106, baseball with 35 Red Sox and 30 Yankee magazines, 274 coffee magazines, and a variety of travel guides.
Another upgrade includes making the entire Web “flippable.” The bookmark allows readers to add any content to their magazine on Flipboard, and when users access the application they will see their most recent “flipped” content.
The most flipped articles include 28 Beautiful Places You Won’t Believe Actually Exist and Dreamy Photography by Weerapon Chaipuck.
Three million users have joined the Flipboard community since 2.0 launched, bringing the total to 53 million users and six billion pages flipped each month. More than 50 percent of users are reading magazines everyday.
Flipboard 2.0 offers a unique way of curating, sharing and browsing content. Magazine aficionados and fans of publications can check out Flipboard and not only be a reader, but a creator as well.
