NEW YORK CITY — Nintendo has announced a new initiative called Nintendo TVii that turns a Wii U console into an entertainment system integrated with Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, TiVo, and more.
Similar to the entertainment options provided by Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Nintendo TVii on Wii U gives consumers a reason to purchase the console on top of its unique gaming experiences.
The Wii U GamePad offers access to TV, movies, sports, and more. The GamePad controls what’s on your TV screen like a personal touchscreen remote.

Nintendo TVii is connected to Facebook, Twitter, and Nintendo’s Miiverse, so you can interact socially with content you’re watching. You can see and put up new posts across these social networks.
Nintendo TVii launches in the U.S. and Canada with the Wii U console on Nov. 18, and it’s in with every Wii U with no extra cost.
It’s easy to argue that Nintendo TVii will help the Wii U sell more consoles, just as we’ve seen the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 move more systems with its push as a main living room device.
