Sony music announced a new partnership today with Internet giant Tencent to distribute its massive music catalog in China.

It’s a bit of good news for Sony, which has been rocked by a massive hacking episode that revealed all sorts of embarrassing internal documents. The deal also comes about a week after Sony struck a partnership to have its music carried on popular messaging app Line.

Now Sony’s music will also be distributed and promoted by Tencent, via its WeChat messaging app and QQ social network, according to a report from Reuters.

In China, Tencent is also a dominant force in video games and has been been investing heavily to expand its media services.

The deal with Sony follows a similar partnership Tencent forged last month with Warner Music Group. On the video side, Tencent has been rapidly growing its content offerings, including making a deal to carry HBO programming in China.
