What is Google Play?

Google Play, which replaced the Android Market earlier this year, is vying for the mobile app space throne against Apple’s reigning iTunes app store. This morning we reported that mobile stat tracker site AppAnnie.com had added Google Play to its offering of analytics, and to kick things off it has released the following infographic (click here to see the full-sized version).

iOS has been running relatively unopposed for the last few years, and as the graph above reveals, that doesn’t seem in danger of changing anytime soon. App Annie explains that both companies are seeing equal growth annually, which means Google has no chance of playing catch-up.
