AT&T made a strong showing in its last quarter of 2010. The carrier announced its earnings today (PDF link) and revealed that it added 2.8 new wireless customers in the last quarter and sold 4.1 million iPhones.
AT&T saw revenues of $31.4 billion (up $653 million from last year) with 9.9 percent growth in wireless revenues and a 9.6 percent increase in wireless service revenues. Last quarter marked the first time ever that AT&T’s wireless revenues exceeded its wired revenues.
In total, AT&T now has 95.3 million wireless subscribers. In comparison, Verizon reported earlier this week that it ended 2010 with 94.1 million wireless customers.
The carrier also sold 442,000 tablets — including the iPad and some Android tablets — and added more than 1.5 million connected devices to its network. Wireless churn, or the number of subscribers switching to other carriers, was the lowest ever for a fourth quarter at 1.32 percent. We suspect that number to look very different the next time around for AT&T, since it’s losing exclusivity of the iPhone next month to Verizon.
