Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s Mad Money, moderated a panel consisting of top wireless executives from AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint that discussed topics ranging from the possibility of a spectrum crunch to AT&T’s just-announced deal to purchase T-Mobile.
The spectrum crunch — a shorthand term for fears that the amount of spectrum commercially licensed to carriers will be inadequate to consumers’ fast-growing demands for mobile bandwidth — has become an increasingly divisive issue amongst the top telecommunications companies. So much so that AT&T decided to buy T-Mobile, another of the largest wireless providers, for $39 billion in order to get ahold of the company’s wireless spectrum.
An executive from T-Mobile scheduled to appear was noticeably absent after AT&T announced Sunday that it would purchase T-Mobile.
