Eyefi announced today its most powerful wireless photo-sharing card in its family of WiFi-enabled SD cards.

The Eyefi Mobi Pro is aimed at making photo sharing more convenient for all photographers. The 32GB card can transfer photos over a WiFi wireless network in an automated fashion, allowing you to move your photos to photo apps and cloud services — or your own computer — as you take them. The card is big enough for 16,000 photos or about 12 hours of video.

The timing is pretty good since Apple announced a couple of days ago that it would get rid of the MacBook’s SD card slot. The Eyefi has a converter that allows you to transfer SD photos through a USB slot. But it also makes it easy to share with other devices via wireless networks.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company said it has designed the latest card for speed, convenience, and quality. It’s like combining the “quality of a digital camera with the convenience of a smartphone and the power of the cloud,” Eyefi said.

“Mobi Pro is the foremost product from Eyefi that builds on the state-of-the-art wireless image transfer and syncing we pioneered with Eyefi Mobi and Eyefi Cloud,” said Matt DiMaria, CEO of Eyefi, in a statement. “By adding RAW wireless transfer and workflow features demanded by photography customers around the world as well as powerful, automated photo categorization and search features it is now easier than ever to find, access and enjoy all your photos on any device at any time.”

The new card has selective transfer. That means the photographer has control over which images transfer from their camera to their mobile device or to their computer for editing, sharing, and syncing.

It can also transfer photo files in the RAW or JPEG formats at fast speeds. You can send JPEGs to your mobile device for instant preview, quick editing, and sharing. And you can send RAW files directly to the desktop for post-processing with tools such as Adobe Lightroom.

The images are securely and automatically transferred, whether you are shooting on location, at home, or in a studio. Away from home, the Mobi Pro creates its own WiFi hotspot to enable instant transfer. At home, it connects to the local wireless network to transfer images as high speeds.

The Mobi Pro also comes with a desktop and mobile app that makes it easy to find and access photos, and Eyefi has added new capabilities to its cloud service. You can, for instance, use an “instant image compare” feature, which lets photographers quickly compare photos and view detailed image data such as shutter speed and aperture settings (EXIF data).

Eyefi mobile apps work with the Eyefi Cloud to retain the original resolution of an image while simultaneously re-rendering it for the best viewing on a given device. So you can enjoy the entire photo collection on all devices at any time. Eyefi Cloud also uses image analysis to classify images for instant organization, sharing, and search by category. In addition to basic date, time and geo locations, images are automatically identified by subject area such as food, indoor, outdoor and dozens of other attributes making it fast and easy to find photos.

The Eyefi Mobi Pro is available today for $100 with a one-year free membership in Eyefi Cloud. Separately, Eyefi Cloud costs $50 a year. It works with smartphones, tablets, PCs, or Macs. It supports WiFi transfer of video (under 2GB per file) in the following formats: mpg, mov, flv, wmv, avi, mp4, mts, m4v, and 3gp.
