ios-in-car

While some iOS apps have worked with in-car software for a long while, Apple said today at its WWDC event in San Francisco that full iOS integration with car dashboards will come in 2014.

(Read our full live blog for more coverage of WWDC 2013.)

Essentially, you’ll be able to see an iOS-like screen on your car dashboard and talk with iOS to bring up applications. Functions that Apple showed onstage included calling, radio, messaging, and navigation. (We fully expect many more apps in the realm of music and navigation will line up to be part of this.)

Car manufacturers that have signed up for iOS integration include Chevy, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Kia, Infiniti, Hyundai, Volvo, Jaguar, Porsche, and Acura.
