Bluehole has crowned the first champion of its Gamescom PUBG Invitational tournament by giving a golden frying pan (really, it’s a cast-iron skillet) to the top finisher in the solo rounds, Evermore. The development studio handed out a gold, silver, and bronze frying pan to the top-three performers across a series of matches in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

These trophies are a reference to the frying pan in the last-person-standing shooter, which is one of the most coveted melee weapons because it hangs off your belt and can deflect bullets that would otherwise enter the “meaty part” of your hindquarters.

In the clip below, you can see Bluehole handing out the trophy to Evermore.

I hope that these trophies work like the Stanley Cup in the National Hockey League, where one trophy gets passed from one winner to the next forever. Imagine how grody that pan will look in a few years after one esports pro after another cooks a celebratory chicken dinner for themselves.
