Update 2 at 1:07 p.m. PST: The Xbox Live Status page does not load consistently, so the errors continue to affect that site as well as Xbox Live as a whole.

Xbox Live is still having intermittent connectivity problems. Microsoft’s online gaming service went down for a significant number of people on Thursday, and people continued to complain on social media since then that they are encountering errors when trying to log into the network. This preceded the Xbox Live status page going offline for a brief moment today.

Throughout the early part of Saturday, the outage wasn’t affecting everybody equally. A number of people were reporting that they couldn’t log in, but all of their friends could. But a spike in reports on social media suggests that the outage is now more widespread. On Xbox One, this is keeping people from booting up online multiplayer games and video services, which all require a connection to remote servers. But many people are also having issues playing primarily single-player games that typically connect online for authentication. On both PC and Xbox One, players cannot create parties or communicate with their friends.

Microsoft’s status page is back online, and it has confirmed the outage … although it does not waste time with specifics.

“Hello Xbox members, we’re currently experiencing an issue,” reads a note from Microsoft’s engineers. “We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back for updates.”

I’ve reached out to Microsoft for an answer about what “an issue” means, and I’ll update if I get a response.

Update at 1:01 p.m. PST: The Xbox Live status page is back, but the network outage continues.
