Hackers have their hackathons — and now bloggers have a blogathon.
The first-ever Viralheat Blogathon happens Aug. 1 in San Francisco. Put on by social media marketing company Viralheat, it’s modeled after the hackathons held in the Bay Area and worldwide in which developers compete to see who can create the best app or solve the toughest computing problem in a day. But why should programmers have all the fun? Bloggers can be as competitive as any computer hacker.
Viralheat’s Blogathon will pit writers against one another in a battle of wits and writing ability. It will gather community managers, social media managers, and marketers for an evening of learning and friendly competition.
As an added incentive, the first place winner’s blog post will be published in VentureBeat. This is a great way to get your writing noticed — and it’s a chance to highlight your company, if you can do it in a way that provides value to a wide range of readers.
VentureBeat is a media sponsor for the Blogathon, and I’ll be one of the judges, so you can be sure that I’ll be looking for the best possible writing.
Even if you don’t want to compete, you can register as a guest; you will be welcome to listen to our great lineup of speakers, socialize, and grab a bite to eat and drink.
Who will be there? Judges and speakers from Google, VentureBeat, LinkedIn, San Francisco State University, and many more.
For more information, check out Viralheat’s Blogathon website.
When you’re ready, register for the Blogathon on Eventbrite. And may the best blogger win!
